Items for JOTA-JOTI 2026

Chameleon

Spring is already emphatically present and the summer holidays are not that far away. It is therefore high time to update our JOTA-JOTI-minded audience about the state of affairs regarding the articles that we as Service Kring JOTA-JOTI prepare annually to provide technical support for the JOTA-JOTI and that can introduce the youth to the technology.

We are releasing a name band for our uniforms again. This year's name band has a green background color with gray letters. and it features the theme of this year's JOTA-joti: DIGITAL PHYSICAL.

Then we also have a badge with the same theme on it. On the website of Scouting Netherlands  you will find everything about the theme

If you light up the badge and then view the badge in the dark, you will see another Glow in ther Dark effectBadge2026

We nowBadge2026GitD have the name bands and Badges in stock and we are still waiting for the soldering project When the sale can start you will also find it here

The soldering project for this year is not quite finished yet, but I can already reveal a tip of the veil.

The soldering project kit is called the Chameleon, or Chameleon  in pas. dat English

The CKameleonhameleon becomes interactive again: You can vary the colors of the Chameleon's LED by pressing a button. In addition, it is possible to activate a motion sensor, which will change the color of the Chameleon as a result of movements. The PCB can be worn on the clothing, so the assembly of the components is possible as a semi-surface mounting, but it is also possible to build the PCB traditionally.

Furthermore, the Chameleon has a few contact points to connect external switches for color change. These points, as well as the motion sensor, offer opportunities for games.

So, let's go on holiday everyone, and then our items will be for sale in the shop again.

Amateur Radio Day

The Squeezer explained

Squeezer2025 3We use a lot of electronic devices that use batteries. Sometimes the batteries can be recharged, but often not.

Of course, we return the non-rechargeable batteries neatly to a collection point, but...... they are often not completely empty yet! They may contain too little energy for the device they come from, but the energy has not yet run out. With the "Squeezer" you can get the last bit of energy out of the battery (squeeze!) before the battery disappears into the recycling bin.

So what does the "Squeezer" do with this last bit of energy? The "Squeezer" uses the energy to light up a bright LED, so it's a flashlight!

You can choose between white light or red light. This can be useful as a marking in the dark, for example when you walk along a dark road. White light on the front, red light on the back.

But the red light is also useful when you go stargazing, for example. Astronomers like to use red light when they are working outside. In the dark your eyes are used to low light, when you turn on a white flashlight, your eyes have to get used to bright light again, after this it takes a long time for your eyes to get used to the dark. With red light, this is much easier!

The "Squeezer" also has a push button with which you can use it to give light signals. This way you can communicate with light-Morse signals!

AA and AAA batteries fit in the "Squeezer", these are the most commonly used batteries nowadays. For Scouts who want to experiment, the "Squeezer" also has two special connectors. Other energy sources can be connected to this. Think, for example, of a 4.5 Volt battery or a 9 Volt battery, or use solar cells and supercapacitors. You will have to tinker with some wires.

If you are a real researcher, you can also use these connections to connect your homemade battery. You can make your own battery with, for example, a lemon or a glass of cola and a galvanized nail and a piece of copper wire. Will you be able to generate enough energy for the "Squeezer"?

Finally, two important instructions for use:

1. Do not use rechargeable batteries in the "Squeezer"! Rechargeable batteries cannot withstand it when they are completely discharged (all energy out). This will break down the batteries and prevent them from being charged (properly). So only use the "Squeezer" with alkaline (disposable) batteries.

2. If you don't have an "empty" battery, you can of course also use a new battery. Then you can enjoy your "Squeezer" even longer!

With the "Squeezer" you are energy-efficient, green and Future-proof as a Scout!

Items for JOTA-JOTI 2025

Naambandje2025

This year, the JOTA-JOTI Service Circle is once again preparing several items to support the JOTA-JOTI 2025 theme: "Future Proof". First up is the name tag. This year's color is yellow and blue.

Logo CharissaBadge2025GitDark

We also have a badge to support the theme. We're aiming for a slightly larger quantity in the shop this year, and we hope not to disappoint anyone. Please order in advance,of course. Also nice in Glow in the Dark

We also have a kit in development, and that kit will definitely be Future Proof. See below for a picture of the "SQUEEZER." This squeezes the last bit of power from an AA, AAA, or other battery. Alternative energy sources (supercapacitors or solar cells) can also be connected. The light can be switched on/off, or Morse code can be transmitted using the push button. The light color can be switched between white and red (ideal for night vision or stargazing).

The items can be ordered starting in August, and we'll let you know with a message on this website.SQUEEZER
